The main temple among the three great temples along the central axis in Emperor Yan Grave is located on the platform. The front is around 9 rooms, the side is around 5 rooms and the general height is 24 meters. As the tallest form among the ancient buildings with a total construction area of 1687.56 square meters, its scale is only second to the Taihe Temple in The Forbidden City. There are 36 optimus golden primes and a golden Emperor Yan’s statue worshiped in the center, guarded by an eagle and a deer on each side. One feature of the statue is its dark skin because Emperor Yan was poisoned when tasting herbs. In order to memorize Emperor Yan as a selfless ancestor, the dark skin is also placed in his statue to show respect. On each walls of the western and eastern side, there is the giant work named “Zhao Jie Yan Di Painting”. In this painting, all the historical emperors, royal generations, filial piety, great nobles and also the gods from heaven to earth are integrated in to a whole picture with Emperor Yan to express the oriental philosophical ideology about heaven, earth and human being.
